The Art and Skill of Manual Machining

Our journey began with manual machining and it remains an essential component of our extensive range of services. The skill and artistry involved in manual machining cannot be replicated by automated systems alone. Our team of experienced machinists brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each project, guaranteeing accuracy and excellence in even the most complex tasks.

Manual machining at Fabricon offers several distinct advantages

Manual Machining
  • Flexibility for Custom Projects: Our manual machines allow us to efficiently tackle one-off parts or small production runs. This is particularly valuable for prototyping, where quick turnaround and the ability to make on-the-fly adjustments are crucial.
  • Specialized Operations: Some complex parts or unique materials require the finesse and intuition of an experienced machinist. Our team excels in handling these specialized tasks that might be challenging for CNC machines.
  • Repair and Modification: When it comes to repairing or modifying existing parts, manual machining often provides the most cost-effective and efficient solution. Our machinists can quickly assess and address issues without the need for complex programming.
  • Complementing CNC Operations: In many projects, we combine the precision of CNC machining with the flexibility of manual operations. This hybrid approach allows us to optimize efficiency and quality across various stages of production.
  • Training Ground for Innovation: Our manual machining capabilities serve as a training ground for our machinists, fostering problem-solving skills and innovative thinking that benefit all aspects of our operations.

While we’ve significantly expanded our CNC capabilities over the past ten years, adding four and five-axis milling, large lathe capacity with a 6 1/2″ thru hole and 79″ turn length, and advanced software like Gibbs Cam, and Solid Works, we continue to invest in and value our manual machining capabilities.

Our manual machining department is equipped with a range of precision tools and machines, including

  • Manual lathes for turning operations
  • Vertical milling machines
  • Surface grinders for precision finishing
  • Drill presses for accurate hole-making
  • Sawing equipment for material preparation

These manual machines work in concert with our advanced CNC equipment, allowing us to offer a comprehensive suite of machining services. Our skilled machinists are adept at choosing the right tool for each job, whether it’s one of our state-of-the-art CNC machining centers or a traditional manual machine.

At Fabricon Inc., we believe that the combination of cutting-edge technology and traditional craftsmanship sets us apart. Our manual machining capabilities allow us to be responsive to our customers’ unique needs, provide quality products for a wide range of applications, and build long-lasting partnerships based on trust and expertise.
